Irish champion Pathfork, a son of US champion sire Distorted Humor from one of the hottest families in the stud book, had another good weekend this past week.
Pathfork had winners at four different racetracks this past weekend, with his runners scoring at all of Hollywoodbets Greyville, Fairview, Ngong and Champ De Mars over the weekend.
The former G1 boylesports.com Vincent O’Brien National Stakes winner’s first success came when his beautifully bred 3yo daughter Step Lively made a winning debut at Fairview on Friday.
Step Lively, who was bred by Highlands, stayed on nicely under Charles Ndlovu to register a first out 1.25 length win, when victorious over 1200m for trainer Alan Greeff on Friday.
Pathfork’s second success of the weekend came when his son Rob Roy saluted at Champ De Mars on Sunday, with another son of the sire, Jordan River, scoring in Kenya on the same day.
The former G1 winner’s final success of the weekend came when his Dennis Bosch trained son Gentleman’s Way stayed on strongly to record a 1.1 length win over 1600m on Hollywoodbets Greyville’s polytrack on Sunday afternoon (another son of Pathfork, Arrow’s Mark, running second to Gentleman’s Way). Bred by Highlands, lightly raced four-year-old Gentleman’s Way has now won two of only five starts.
Also sire of such high-class gallopers as Mighty High, Madame Speaker, Marchingontogether and My Friend Lee, Pathfork, whose first 2yo runner of the 2019-2020 racing season, Sultan’s Daughter, ran second at Turffontein on Saturday, has two colts on offer at Friday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
