Ridgemont Highlands’ G1 winning Singspiel horse Potala Palace looks to have yet another smart two-year-old to his name in the form of African Chime.

The latter made an eye catching debut when winning at the first time of asking for trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Teaque Gould at Fairview on Friday.
Bred by Highlands, the blue blooded filly romped to a clear-cut one length score when victorious over 1200 metres.

Potala Palace, whose current two-year-old crop is spear-headed by graded winners Palace Of Dreams (G3 Pretty Polly Stakes) and Singforafa (G3 Strelitzia Stakes), also gained a further boost to his female line on Thursday when his close relative Rakan lifted the Listed King George V Cup at Leopardstown.

A three-year-old colt by Sea The Stars, Rakan ran out a three-parts of a length winner of the King George V Cup to take his tally of wins to two from four starts. Out of the Teofilo sired G1 Investec Oaks runner up Tarfasha, Rakan’s fourth dam Edinburgh is the third dam of Potala Palace and this season’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas winner Front And Centre.

Premier’s Champion Stakes winner Potala Palace, whose small first crop produced such high class performers as Basilius, Russian Prince and Senatla, has four lots on offer at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale.
