Highlands Stud’s leading sire Dynasty was represented by his 52nd stakes winner when his Ascot Stud bred son Stormy Eclipse landed the Listed Memorial Mile at Fairview on Friday.
In the process, the six-year-old gelding provided trainer Tara Laing with her third win from the past four runnings of the Memorial Mile.

Legislate

Stormy Eclipse, given a strong ride by Charles Ndovu, powered home, after not enjoying the best of passages, to fly up late to win the 2017 Memorial Mile by a head –going away.

He has now seven career wins to his name (and R711 600 in prize money) –with Stormy Eclipse having previously finished runner up in the 2015 G3 Christmas Handicap.

Stormy Eclipse, at R2 000 000, was the fourth top lot sold off the 2013 National Yearling Sale.

His Horse Of The Year winning sire Dynasty is also responsible for Our Emperor, third in Saturday’s G3 Mahala TV Cape Summer Stayers Handicap.

Dynasty is enjoying another tremendous season, with his runners this season including G1 Sansui Summer Cup winner Liege, KZN Guineas Trial hero Sir David Baird, Hong Kong G3 winner Nassa, and unbeaten filly Hashtagyolo.

Liege

The sire of 23 G1 horses (and counting!) , Dynasty’s 12 strong draft for the Cape Premier Sale includes a colt out of Dubawi’s dual G1 winning daughter Happy Archer (Lot 23), a filly out of Captain Al’s champion All Is Secret (Lot 187), and a colt out of Trippi’s G3 winner One Fine Day –whose relatives include Rahy, Singspiel and Glorious Song (Lot 86).
